... Press Release CITROEN STYLING EXERCISE - "K A R IN " The Bureau de Style Citroen, situated at Velizy on the outskirts of Paris, have produced this futuristic looking prototype, codenamed "Karin". Designed by Trevor Fiore, now Head of Styling at Citroen, the exercise is intended to show that innovation should play an important part in the future of the European motor industry, and that Citroen can make a major contribution to this development. The actual shape of the car, described as "an elongated pyramid", is a break from the current tradition of rectangular boxes, yet can still be used as the basis for a practical car. The A-pillars extend from the roofline to the headlights, and are used to support the windscreen of polarised glass, resulting in good allround visibility. The 2 doors are gullwing, and a central driving position, with an offset passenger seat on either side, is used to make the most of the interior space available. It is not suggested that this will necessarily be the definitive shape of cars in 1985, but rather shows that modern technology can be used to give more freedom of design, as well as making cars a little more fun than they are today.
