... in unsprung weight has been studied with particular care. Light alloy brake drums with inserted liners are used, the back plates having ample provision for ventilation so as to avoid brake fade when the car is doing competi tion work. The brakes themselves are of the Lockheed twoleadingshoe type, the master cylinder being carefully shrouded from heat dissipated by the exhaust system. A centrally mounted pullup handbrake works the rear shoes through a short direct mechanical system. The wheels are notable in being of the knockoff type. They are not, as usual with this form of construction, wire wheels with splined hubs, but of the pierced disc type which are pulled up on to pins which transmit braking and driving torque. The low weight of the chassis (10 i cwt.) is remarkable. Although this is a produc tion type car the frame weight (140 lb.) is only 40 lb. greater than the best figures achieved in racing car practice where cost and easy production design have not to be considered, and the engine weighs less than 3 lb. per h.p. It is obvious from the figures quoted that the new Frazer-Nash “ High Speed ” model will take its place amongst the leading fast cars of the world.
