When passive safety became increasingly important (car connoisseur quiz)
As traffic on the roads increased and the number of accidents rose, car manufacturers and politicians realized that something had to be done to mitigate the consequences of collisions and crashes. From the 1960s onwards, pioneering concept vehicles designed to make driving safer were presented and discussed at motor shows and safety conferences. Some of these prototypes turned out to be slightly modified production vehicles, while others were completely independent prototypes whose appearance could hardly be traced back to the manufacturer. Or would you have recognized the Mercedes-Benz ESF 22 (pictured above) without the star straight away?
In any case, recognition was not always as easy as with this Alfasud SVAR from 1982.
