Summary
From 1985 to 1992, Alfa Romeo built the 75 model, which many enthusiasts consider to be the last classic Alfa with its Alfetta transaxle architecture. Finally, Alfa Romeo produced a special series, which was available with two-liter Twin-Spark and 1.8-liter turbo engines. This driving report focuses on one of these "Limited Edition" models with the twin-turbo four-cylinder engine and shows it in current and historical images.

The wheelbase of the Alfa Romeo 75 was 2510 mm, exactly the same as that of its predecessor, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, and the Alfa Romeo 90, which was produced at the same time. This correspondence also explains a lot about the background to the Alfa Romeo mid-size class of the late 1980s. Numbers were very important back then anyway! Alfa Romeo was not exactly bedded on roses in the middle of 1985. The company had been making losses since the seventies and there was a lack of funds for new developments. At the same time, however, the vehicle range was ageing. The Alfetta had already been launched in 1972 and was replaced in 1984 by the Alfa Romeo 90 on the same technical basis. In the spring of 1985, the Alfa Romeo 75 was introduced, which was closely related to its predecessor, the Giulietta.
