The right winter car?
12/21/2023
Many classic car and modern classic car enthusiasts are always wondering whether they should buy a classic car for winter use. After all, the cold season in our latitudes, with its high levels of precipitation and snow, can last three to five months, so you could get impatient and suffer from withdrawal symptoms.
Well, not every car is suitable for use in the snow, even if auction pictures suggest otherwise.
For the 2007 Maserati MC12 Corsa (pictured above), for example, it might be difficult to find suitable winter tires. What's more, the evolutionary sports car is likely to fail at the next snowdrift.
The Bugatti Type 40 from 1926 would make more sense, its tire tread should guarantee forward progress even in winter and, if necessary, a makeshift chain could be tied around it with ropes.
Perhaps the best tip, however, could be the Jeep Wagoneer from 1965, as it is after all descended from a real all-terrain vehicle and should perhaps take winter use less badly than the two sportier options that RM/Sotheby's will be auctioning on January 31, 2024 on the Rue de Rivoli in Paris .
