Clothes make the man

Clothes make the man, for once the other way around. Roger Gloor rightly received the "Lifetime Award" for his life's work at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne on the occasion of the " Swiss Classic Awards" ceremony .
The 86-year-old has shaped the face of Automobil-Revue for decades. Together with Adriano Cimarosti, he wrote, mostly in the background, about motor racing all over the world. But he was just as enthusiastic about the annual motor show and still describes the days in Geneva as the most exhausting of the year. "We worked 24 hours a day, because at that time it was still possible to take photos and write at night without an audience," he laughs.
Later, he devoted himself increasingly to classic cars. He not only wrote individual articles about the classics of past decades, but also entire books. "Cars of the fifties", "... of the seventies" as well as two books about Peter Monteverdi and his work and a work that brings the Italian design house Bertone closer to the reader.
Over the years, the former Ferrari driver naturally acquired a huge amount of knowledge about all these vehicles and participated as a highly esteemed jury member in numerous Concours d'Elégance events not only in Switzerland, but also in Germany and Italy.
The man from Bern, who switched to the motor journalist camp in 1963 as a commercial employee, was quite rightly honored.
The tailor-made jacket from Paolo Pontiggia will now make him clearly recognizable to everyone in the city of Bern, in keeping with the motto "Clothes make the man".
