Printed classic car magazines are still in great demand (question of the week)
Everywhere you read about the death of magazines and the move away from printed magazines. This trend is also affecting the automotive press. Because there is less and less space for printed matter in the sales outlets, it is no wonder that circulations are falling. And with falling circulations, there is also a lack of advertising revenue and sales, with the result that some press products are running out of steam. In many cases, part of the production is then abandoned in favor of a purely online product.
This development does not stop at classic car magazines, but is it really the readers' wish to do without the printed magazine? We wanted to find out more and asked a corresponding " question of the week" : Do you still read printed classic car magazines?
The answers surprised us somewhat. Firstly, it wasn't just a few dozen opinions but over 630 Zwischengas readers who responded. And secondly, the proportion of these 630 readers who really want to do without paper is very small!
44.4 percent still regularly read classic car magazines on paper. A further 28.4 percent regularly read at least one printed classic car magazine. Together, this is already three quarters or exactly 73.2 percent of respondents.
A further 20.5 percent read a printed classic car magazine from time to time, but not regularly.
2.8 percent do read classic car magazines, but they do so electronically and not on paper.
And only 3.4 percent do not read classic classic car magazines at all.
0.5 percent were not represented in any answer.
So over 90 percent still enjoy the traditional classic car magazine and appreciate leafing through a well-made magazine. Of course, this begs the question as to why circulation is still falling. It is probably a generational issue after all, but those who no longer need classic car magazines are obviously not necessarily among the Zwischengas readers either.
