Forgotten movie cars: the Vauxhall Vectra from "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"
No, the light blue Ford Anglia is not the only car used by a main character in the film series about the English wizard student. At the beginning, when Harry is still unaware of his magical powers, he is driven around by his uncle Vernon Dursley in a silver-grey Vauxhall Vectra Estate. And as is the way in bourgeois suburbs, nobody wants to lag behind their neighbor, which is why there are four Vectra station wagons parked in the driveways of four houses.
But as much as the cars look alike at first glance, they differ in detail.
The Dursleys are the only ones to have a model from after the major facelift in 1999, recognizable by the more voluminous wheel arches and sill trims: a Vectra Club in the color "Star Silver III". The neighbors right next door drive a Vectra Beauty (the lowest equipment line) in the color "Ceramic Blue Mica". As these hubcaps were only available in the first model year, they probably bought their Vauxhall in 1996.
Behind it is a Vectra CD (middle equipment line) in "Jungle Green Mica". This combination of paint color and hubcaps is probably a 1998 model. Finally, the neighbors at the very back have a Vectra CDX (the highest equipment line) in "Marseille Red Mica". The paint color and design of the alloy wheels suggest a model between 1996 and 1998.
However, one thing is the same on all four Vectras: the key. When Uncle Vernon admonishes his nephew not to do anything funny on the family trip to the zoo, he can even be seen briefly in the picture. This pleases the Omega owner here in the editorial office. Because his key looks exactly the same.
