Should we only portray (almost) perfect cars?
On the occasion of our report on the Fiat Coupé , there were discussions as to whether the photographed example was not beautiful enough and whether a better preserved example should not have been portrayed.
We are of the opinion that cars are subject to a certain amount of ageing and that even used and no longer quite dewy examples make good photo subjects. After all, the transition from wear and tear to patina is not so clear-cut. In case of doubt, originality can even be more important than condition, so it's better to have a correct but worn gearshift than a fake new part.
Perhaps we went a little overboard with the Fiat Coupé? Should we have waited for another example of this interesting vehicle?
