2000 classic car in Tarantino's movie "Once Upon a time in Hollywood"

The day before yesterday I was once again drawn to the cinema, and as soon as I saw the first sequence I knew that this movie needed a brief introduction on Zwischengas. In the leading role: a 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
Quentin Tarantino's ninth film "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood" is like a love letter to Los Angeles - a tribute to Hollywood from the 1960s. It's a bittersweet story about the friendship between fading star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his unflappable stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). It's both a spaghetti western and a road movie, and as befits a Tarantino film, the movie does go off the rails at times, but this time only briefly... Cliff and Rick spend a lot of time on the road, it's a pleasure for us viewers to see them traveling through Los Angeles in a nostalgic film full of countless beautiful classic cars, as it once was.
Rick Dalton's cream-colored Cadillac Coupe de Ville (1966) is the hero car of the film, incidentally the identical vehicle that was used in the film "Reservoir Dogs". This Cadillac is driven comfortably throughout, with chauffeur Cliff always calm and attentive. But when Cliff (Brad Pitt) is in his own 64 Karmann Ghia, things get fast and reckless!
The person responsible for the car in this film is Steven Butcher, who has accompanied most of Tarantino's films to date and organized all the cars Tarantino wanted, including in this film. According to him, he organized over 2000 vintage cars for the shoot, which were spread out in the city streets and parking lots of the filming locations in order to achieve the most authentic look of Los Angeles as it was back then. Steven Butcher himself grew up in LA in 1969 as an eleven-year-old and has been working with cars for films for 30 years. He said about the film that he has never had to organize more than 2000 cars; according to him, only 400 are needed on average.
Then there is Roman Polanski's MG TD, Rick Dalton's neighbor in the film. Polanski's wife Sharon Tate (played by Margot Robbie) either drove to the film studios in an MG with her hair blowing in the wind, or drove herself to the film studios in a black Porsche 911.
A 1959 Ford Galaxie also plays an important role, although we won't reveal exactly which one at this point. We also remember a Chevrolet Impala Cabriolet, a Lincoln Continental, a Mercury Meteor and .... and yes, there was also a VW Beetle. A 1303 model, standing in a parking lot, so it was built in 1973 at the earliest, and the film is set in 1969... But that's not too tragic.
The movie is certainly entertaining for classic car fans, and for Tarantino fans anyway, as you see cars from the 60s all the time, including trucks, fire engines and ambulances from that era. The scene in the drive-in movie theater is also very successful, and Steve McQueen also appears at Hugh Hefner's Playboy pool party. Well done!
