When classic car prices are on the slide
07/29/2019
For some time now, there has been talk of stagnating classic car prices and that the big growth rates for classic cars are over. However, it is rare to have the opportunity to verify this with truly comparable vehicles, because after all, condition, history, color and many other factors make a big difference.
In the case of the 1969 Lamborghini Islero S, to which we have just dedicated a report , however, the market development can be clearly shown, as chassis number 6531 is being offered by the same auction house in 2019 ( again in Monterey) after 2015 ( in Monterey).
The estimate four years ago: USD 350,000 to 450,000
The estimated value today: USD 275,000 to 325,000
Roughly speaking, that's minus 25 percent.
After August 16, 2019, when the auction is over, we will be able to compare the prices achieved, as the Islero S sold for USD 401,500 in 2015, which is pretty much the same as the median estimate.
An exciting story!
