Rare Brits on Lake Constance

A Morgan that doesn't look like a Morgan? Yes, that's right, the Morgan Plus 4 Plus was already different from the other cars over 50 years ago, which, as is well known, had been leaving the factory in Malvern Link almost unchanged since the 1930s. The Plus 4 Plus had a modern plastic body, which made it lighter and more streamlined than the TR4, whose engine it usually had under the hood. Only 26 examples were built between 1963 and 1967, making the Plus 4 Plus one of the rarest Morgans ever. And one of these few cars is on display in Friedrichshafen as part of the special exhibition "British Cars" at Motorworld Classics Bodensee.
The Morgan is not the only rarity in the special exhibition in the foyer. The Healey Tickford Saloon is hardly better known than the Morgan Coupé. A few years before Donald Healey launched the Austin-Healey 100, he built sporty cars, most of which were equipped with Riley engines. Just over 220 of these Tickford Saloons were built between 1950 and 1954, and only a few are likely to have survived.
A Bedford CA Dormobile, an early motorhome from Great Britain, or a Morris Minor Traveller are hardly more numerous today.
But of course there are also more popular British cars to be seen in the special show, such as MGs, Triumphs, Jaguars and Rolls-Royces. And "Big Ben" is not missing either.
Motorworld Classics Bodensee is open until this evening (Sunday, May 12, 2019). There is a lot to see, such as rare motorcycles at the London Ace Café ...
