Free restorations - a new business model?
A new business idea is taking the world by storm: classic car owners can have their cars restored free of charge, but in return they have to display advertisements on their cars afterwards.
Super-Resto is the name of the company behind this new business model. It is well known that classic cars are seen as popular, so the idea of using the old cars as moving advertising pillars, so to speak, is not far off.
What's more, mass-produced restorations can be carried out comparatively cheaply, especially in countries where labor costs are not as high as in Germany.
Anyone who has a suitable car in need of restoration can therefore contact the Super-Resto company. However, only vehicles with a guaranteed supply of spare parts are accepted, e.g. MGB, MGA, Austin/Morris Mini, Triumph TR4-6, BMW 2002, Fiat 500, Audi 100 S Coupé, Alfa Romeo Spider, Ford Mustang or BMW 3.0 CS. The specialists at Super-Resto first examine whether the restoration is feasible with reasonable effort. If the traffic light is green, Super-Resto takes around six months to restore the classic car to its former glory. In spacious premises in Andalusia, the vehicles are brought up to a condition 2 standard so that they are also suitable as sponsorship showpieces.
At the same time, the advertising stickers are applied by means of wrapping, which the beneficiary of the restoration must then leave as they are for at least five years.
Another condition of the collaboration is that the car must be seen on the roads for at least 30 weeks a year after handover and must cover 10,000 or more kilometers per year. After all, the advertising should be clearly visible. Cars from metropolitan areas naturally enjoy priority at Super-Resto.
The restoration itself is really absolutely free of charge, only the removal of the wrapping has to be paid for by the user at the end of the five years. And until then, you just have to drive around as a moving billboard. You can't influence the subject, so if Coke, UBS or Shell advertising is emblazoned on the car, then that's the way it is.
Whether a car is accepted by Super-Resto can be easily checked via the Super-Resto company website by uploading a photo and description . Within a few days, you will receive a response and an appointment for the pre-inspection.
