... is the 80th anniversary of his death today. Unfortunately, the exceptional talent died in an accident on October 24, 1971 in a Grand Prix that was not part of the World Championship.
Kurt Ahrens, his team colleague at Porsche, asked if he could hold a simple ceremony and place a bouquet of flowers at the site of the accident when he was present at Brands Hatch.
Of course, he was allowed to do so. A nice gesture, we think!
