Back from Beijing and Paris
07/19/2016
The Beijing-Paris Rally started on June 12 in China and ended last Sunday, July 17 in France. There were 36 tough days with 13,695 km in between. Heat, wet, cold, dust and many hardships had to be overcome during this time.
The 1930 Chrysler 70 of Chris and Beppi Dillier's team from central Switzerland had little trouble with this and the team finished in an excellent position in their first participation without a single puncture. The Chrysler group, consisting of three vehicles, also won the team prize.
It seems that the Chrysler brand is the measure of all things for such adventures, because even the sudden large pool of oil under the rear of the car did not come from the vehicle, but from the spare oil canister it was carrying.
But arriving in Paris was not enough for the Obwald residents, so yesterday, Monday, they also drove the 650 km from Paris back to Sarnen, where they received an unexpectedly festive welcome from the community and their friends.
The trunk of the Chrysler was now empty of spare oil, but full of impressive memories. Of course, we will not withhold this 36-page diary from our readers on zwischengas.com.
Oh yes, the final results are briefly noted here:
overall winners in the younger category were Mark Pickering and Dave Boddy in a Datsun 240Z, Bruce and Harry Washington won the older cars before 1941 in a Chrysler 75 Roadster, the Dillier brothers came eighth and third in their group.
