In conversation with Rainer Braun
01/04/2015
Perhaps not every German-speaking racing fan knows him personally, but they have almost certainly heard his voice. Rainer Braun's voice. Because it resounded from the loudspeakers of most racetracks near and far, and also provided expert commentary in the live broadcasts of various television channels. As an automobile journalist and author of various books, Rainer Braun proved that he could also write. He was also a really good driver and demonstrated this on many racetracks and on board formula cars and touring cars.
It goes without saying that a man with 50 years of racing experience has a lot to say from an active and observational perspective. And when you sit down at the table with him, one anecdote after another bubbles out of his mouth. You can believe that he simply pulled his three books "Hello paddock" out of his sleeve. And they are certainly his most entertaining and at the same time most captivating books. His subtle observations make it clear how motorsport has changed over the last 50 years. And you begin to long for an era when a few warhorses could still change the world.
I was naturally very happy that Rainer Braun presented me with his three volumes of "Hallo Fahrerlager" in a slipcase with a personal dedication at the Nürburgring this summer, and if I ever got bored, then picking up one of the three books would certainly provide immediate relief. But as it is, it's perfect fireside reading and, unlike many other books, you can enjoy Braun's stories again and again.
Rainer Braun also told me that he is working on another volume, which is something we can look forward to in 2015. Especially because the previous books are almost sold out.
If you still want to get hold of volumes 1, 2or 3 , you can do so online at Inter Media Distribution.
