Who cares about the tires on the Ford Sierra XR4i?
PR work can sometimes go wrong. Almost exactly 30 years ago, Ford and Pirelli wanted to use this picture to announce the attractive new P6 low-profile tires that were fitted as standard on the brand new Ford Sierra XR4i .
Only, nobody looked at the tires ...
Incidentally, the 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine produced 150 hp in the most powerful rear-axle Sierra at the time, which was only available as a three-door model. It was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1983 and was characterized by the double rear spoiler in addition to the P6 low-profile tires. And that might have been the more eye-catching accessory, but presumably nobody would have looked there either ...
