I have been involved with classic cars for almost 30 years now. For generational reasons, my heart has always beaten strongly for lightweight sports cars from the sixties and seventies, often with sweeping plastic bodies. With intermediate throttle, however, there were completely new segments to discover and literally experience. My surprise was correspondingly great when I found driving the noble Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow extremely appealing.
When the door closes with a distinct plop, your nose smells the fine leather and your right hand engages the first gear of the automatic almost effortlessly, everyday life is forgotten, stress and hustle and bustle are left outside. The dignified acceleration and the almost silent glide have a truly therapeutic effect.
The Austin 3 Litre from 1970, which I had the pleasure of driving this spring, showed me that it doesn't necessarily have to be a Rolls-Royce to experience these feelings. Although one size smaller and several orders of magnitude cheaper, the Austin, which is extremely rare in this country, was also able to convey the feeling of value that is inherent in the Rolls-Royce.
It is precisely this opportunity to discover new things that Zwischengas aims to offer our readers: To provide an insight into completely unknown and often rare automobiles, and to provide as much information as possible about them (images, sound, archive content).
