A fur car instead of a fur cup

Many people are familiar with the fur cup that Meret Oppenheim created as part of her creation "Déjeuner en fourrure", which was purchased and exhibited by the Museum of Modern Art. But other objects were also covered in fur and only a few of them made it into the big art world, including the automobile.
In 1968, however, around 10 fur-covered cars and their fur-wearing drivers gathered on the Place de la Concorde in Paris. There was the Fiat 500 in a wide variety of fur outfits: Leopard, mink, fox, bear, sheep, etc.
Thank goodness it was all fake fur, because each car needed 60 meters of it, which meant costs of around CHF 3,000 per car. But they certainly looked funny and cute.
And the commentary in AR 52/1968 described yet another advantage in the event of minor parking damage:
"All you have to do is stuff some paper under the fur in the damaged area and comb the hair back in the opposite direction. This way, the fur driver will never have to put on a rueful face for her stern husband."
