The leaves are rustling - German Octane edition
We've been Octane readers from the very beginning, so to speak, and have hardly missed a single issue - the magazine first appeared in May 2003 - and love the pictures, the portraits of classic cars, the entertaining and enlightening columns (especially Jay Leno). We also find the layout of this English car magazine appealing.
And now Octane is also available in German! The first issue is already available in newsagents and competes with an already extensive range. Right from the start, Octane has focused on lifestyle and special cars. And this recipe can also be found in the German version, for which Berthold Dörrich and Gabriele Spangenberg are responsible as "Presenting Editors".
And of course, the two use the rich selection of topics of their English "mother", but have already been able to sprinkle in some exclusives in the first issue, such as the interesting column by Peter Kraus or the article on the Le Mans Classic.
Many of the other topics, such as the report on the Lamborghini Miura, the article on the Borgward RS or Rowan Atkinson's comments on the Bugatti Veyron and the McLaren F1, have already appeared in the English Octane issues, but this is not necessarily a disadvantage, as they are all excellently illustrated and well-written articles.
However, anyone who, like us, has devoured all the English editions will probably not buy the German edition of Octane on a regular basis. For many German-speaking classic car enthusiasts, however, the magazine is new and the outlay of Euro 6.00/6.50 or CHF 9.50 for the 146 pages is well worth it, as the reports on the AC Ace Bristol, the Porsche T64 and the invitation to travel back in time with Ercole Spada are also worthwhile, as are the aforementioned (translated) columns by Jay Leno and Derek Bell.
