Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS - the most successful Ferrari of its time
02/13/2011
With the Ferrari 308 GTB, Enzo Ferrari created a successor to the beautiful Dino 246 GT.
Pininfarina once again did a great job and designed an elegant body shell. Due to the tight schedule, however, the first 308s had to be produced with a plastic body, with just under 800 "Vetroresina" models leaving the factory. A total of around 12,000 308 GTB/GTS (B stands for Berlinetta, S for Spider) were produced before the successor 328 appeared. This was an unheard-of number for Ferrari. The open-top carburetor model in particular is a lot of fun to drive due to its powerful acoustics, and all models are easy to drive.
We briefly summarize the history of this model in a detailed article . In particular, we have also made available two brochures (308 GTB from 1976 and 308 GTB/GTS from 1979) and a whole series of factory photos.
The Ferrari 308 GTS achieved particular fame as the means of transportation for the TV series detectiveThomas Magnum. This early "product placement" is probably responsible for part of the great sales success.
