A rounding error for the anniversary
11/20/2025
The Citroën BX 15 RE had neither the largest nor the smallest displacement, was neither the fastest nor the slowest of its kind and offered neither the leanest nor the most luxurious equipment. It simply bobbed around in the middle of the model range - also in terms of time. Offered in the 1987 to 1992 model years, it was not even particularly long or short-lived.
Every other BX could do something better, even with the same engine. The 1580 cc four-cylinder engine also worked in the BX 16, which was correctly rounded up to the nearest decilitre. The decisive difference lay in the carburettor. While the sixteen-cylinder engine produced 94 hp thanks to double-barrel carburetion, the BX 15 with a single carburetor only produced 80 hp.
Nevertheless, no other BX could be considered for this blog post. This is because only the fifteenth model has the right number in its name for our upcoming anniversary (15 years of Zwischengas on November 23, 2025). So let's give it this brief moment of fame. Because next week it won't be so exciting again.
