Since last weekend, my Opel Omega has been wearing winter shoes again - and the first drive after the change felt like driving a different car. When the tires were replaced, their format also changed, because instead of the non-brand 18-inch wheels, the seventeen-inch wheels with which it was delivered at the time were once again fitted under the car.
And these 2.54 centimeters are surprisingly noticeable. It's not just that there is more springy rubber around the rim. The smaller steering roll radius can also be felt in every bend. The ride is lighter, softer - almost as if the designers had thought about not offering more than 17 inches ex works. Only now it doesn't sit quite as firmly on the road...
