An era comes to an end

So now the time has come: the final Alpine A110 series of 1750 units will be built in Dieppe until summer 2026. Then, after around 30,000 examples of the modern Alpine A110, it will be the end.
The successor will be electric, in the style of the A290 and A390. The "petrol heads" will shed many a tear for today's A110, even if the wish for a manual gearbox was never fulfilled, probably also because the USA was missing as a sales market.
The concept of the Alpine A110 launched in 2017 with its aluminum body and four-cylinder turbo engine had convinced many sports drivers, and we at Zwischengas had also described the lightweight coupé as the "classic pearl of the future " from the very beginning.
Will the electric successor really manage to take on a similar role? Renault reports that the A110 will remain a central component and will soon be relaunched as the Berlinette to redefine French electric sports cars.
If you're not convinced, you can still get your hands on one of the three versions - A110, A110 GTS or A110 R 70. The last 1750 cars will probably be sold soon. And we won't know until later whether the successor will really be as slim and sleek. In any case, I enjoyed every ride in the aluminum Alpine A110 , even if it was nowhere near as rustic and minimal as the real Berlinette with plastic bodywork of the sixties and seventies.
