Mileage not so decisive when buying a classic car (question of the week)
08/30/2021
Time and again, older vehicles with very low mileage are offered at auctions and in dealerships. These often achieve significantly higher prices than cars with more kilometers on the clock. But are they worth the higher price and are they really better than classic cars that have run well?
We wanted to find out from Zwischengas readers what they think and asked the " question of the week" : Do you prefer classics with low mileage, even if they cost significantly more?
Almost 60 percent of the nearly 470 respondents do not primarily look at the mileage. They prefer a well-maintained and regularly driven car to a vehicle with few kilometers but the threat of damage.
27.2 percent stated that they prefer the car with the lower mileage when looking at similar vehicles, even if it costs a little more.
8.4 percent generally only buy vehicles with low mileage and are happy to pay a little more for them.
2.1 percent look primarily at the price and are happy to accept higher mileage in return.
And 2.8 percent said that none of the given answers applied to them. One of them said in a letter that we had probably forgotten an answer option. The missing answer should have read: "For similar vehicles, I take the vehicle with low mileage, which according to the history has been constantly moved/driven and is in good condition".
He himself primarily buys cars with a five-digit mileage, exceptions confirm the rule.

We have already posed the next "question of the week" . This time we want to know: Will you be driving your classic on synthetic fuel?
