David and Goliath?

People like to talk about how big cars have become. This was demonstrated once again on a recent trip, as the photo shows. The modern car was not even very big.
The Peugeot 4007, built from 2007 to 2012, is "only" 4.635 meters long, 1.805 meters wide and around 1.7 meters high. These are actually compact dimensions for a modern SUV.
A Lotus Elan is still very small in comparison, measuring just 3.68 meters in length, 1.42 meters in width and 1.17 meters in height. It also weighs less than half as much as the Peugeot, but can only carry two people and some luggage, although it can do so in a sporty manner.
With the exception of vehicles more reminiscent of quads such as the Renault Twizy, there are hardly any modern cars the size of the Lotus Elan, which is now over 50 years old. But the fact that two tall people can fit comfortably into the small Elan never ceases to amaze ...
