Yesterday, despite a heavy thunderstorm, the audience award ceremony for the beauty contest in Cernobbio/Como took place.
At the traditional parade in front of the Hotel Villa d'Este, the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B from 1937 won the traditional audience award.
Absolutely everything that was technically possible in the second half of the 1930s was installed in the outstanding Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B: Light alloy in-line eight-cylinder engine, twin overhead camshafts, twin supercharger, rear-mounted gearbox, independent suspension all round...
There is not enough space or time (for the author) to list everything here. Based on the modified architecture of the Grand Prix monoposto, 30 examples were built, 20 with a short wheelbase and 10 with a long wheelbase. The latter species included the Berlinetta, which was crowned with the Coppa d'Orte, the first of five with a Superleggera body by Touring.
In 1937, it was one of the stars of the Paris and Milan Motor Shows, followed by Berlin in 1938 - a very good choice by the public!
