Beetle/plastic duck festival
01/09/2018
It is certainly not every day that there are four younger VW Beetles and three Citroën Méhari cars to choose from at an online classic car auction. And this is exactly what Catawiki can offer in the current auction .
There is, for example, a golden yellow VW Beetle from 1974, which is estimated at EUR 5500 to 7250.
Or one of its brothers from 1970, which was valued at EUR 4250 to 5525 as a 1300.
The bordeau red VW 1500 from 1970 was estimated at EUR 7550 to 10,500.
And finally, the silver 1200 Beetle from 1979 is said to cost EUR 4300 to 5600.
They are all currently priced at around EUR 2000 to 3000, although the minimum prices have not yet been reached.
At least as popular as the Beetle is the Citroën Méhari, a leisure car par excellence. The Méhari is a whole price step above the Beetle, but the three cars suggested by Catawiki still seem to be affordable.
There is a newly painted, red early Méhari from 1970, which was estimated at EUR 11,200 to 14,700.
Its beige counterpart from 1982, which has already been restored, is expected to fetch EUR 18,000 to 24,800 according to the Catawiki specialists.
And the orange-colored Méhari from 1977, which is ready for use but not concours-ready, was estimated at EUR 9600 to 12,500.
The Citroën plastic cabriolets are currently hovering around EUR 5000 to 7000, but have not yet reached their minimum prices either.
It will be interesting to see what the online bidders are prepared to pay for these rarities. The Catawiki auction will continue for about six more days!
