Le Grandi Automobili - elegant literature from Italy - thank you!
You might think that we in the Zwischengas team only sit at the computer and stare at a screen all the time, far removed from haptic activities ... This is certainly true to a large extent, but there are enough moments in our day-to-day work where we physically get down to business with our own hands.
Some time ago, for example, we received an e-mail that a complete collection of the Italian magazine "Le Grandi Automobili" was going to be thrown away.
We already have many magazines stored in our rooms, but we didn't have a single copy of this title and so we had no choice but to pick up the entire series.
Mr. Herzog still had two boxes of very well-preserved brochures of Italian vehicles lying around in his garage, so he gave them to us as well. And as there was still room in the trunk, old issues of the Italian magazine "Ruoteclassiche" were also thrown in.
We now feel good because we at Zwischengas have come another step closer to our goal of preserving and digitizing everything important about old cars. And when you open old magazines, you always see interesting things.
For example, you can find details of the Coppa Gordon Bennett, a long-distance race from 1904, which was run over four laps of a 127.150 km circuit with a start/finish in Saalburg.
Or beautifully prepared documentation of historic vehicles such as the Lancia 037 Rally, which we also reported on this week.
So if you, dear Zwischengas reader, want to get rid of entire collections, just send us an e-mail. We are happy to have such moments of contact with our readers, even if we can't always pick up everything found in the attic.
