Lots of splendor at Paleis Het Loo despite the rain
07/08/2016
For the 12th time, the Paleis Het Loo was the venue for a glamorous Concours d'Elégance. There was plenty to celebrate, such as 110 years of Lagonda, 100 years of BMW, 80 years of Bugatti Type 57, 50 years of Dino 206/246 GT, etc.. Brands such as Alpine and model series such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia were also honored.
"Best of Show" in 2016 was the Ferrari Daytona prototype from 1967, which still featured the front end of the Ferrari 275 GTB/4.
Despite the very changeable weather, the participants and spectators enjoyed the event to the full, the atmosphere was cozy and overall Het Loo was significantly larger than at the last event in 2014.
For some visitors, the highlight was not the Concours, but the parking lot with the visitors, because there were plenty of rare vehicles there too. Of course, they did not steal the show from the exhibition vehicles.
On display were a Veritas Nürburgring Coupé from 1951, a Nürburgring Cabriolet from 1951, a Veritas Dyna and four Veritas racing cars.
One of the rare Beutler Porsche 356 four-seaters was certainly a rarity for the Dutch.
Worth seeing was an unrestored Lancia Dilambda Viotti from 1930 and a Fiat Tipo S from 1913.
The Fiat 1100 E Zagato from 1952 was a rarity that is rarely seen, and then there was an Autobleu 4 CV with Charpron bodywork, a Fiat 600 Coupé Viotti from 1959, and so on.
But there wasn't just standing around, there was also driving. After all, cars are not stationary, they are vehicles. In any case, Paleis Het Loo will be remembered as an event that you will want to visit again next time.
