Three times bad luck ...
09/05/2015
Yes, a Porsche driver and an Austin Healey driver will remember this day at the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb for a long time to come. It all started when the driver of a 911 had to park his car at the side of the track in a hairpin bend at the behest of the marshals after it misfired.
While the situation was assessed and small clouds of smoke coming from the engine compartment were viewed with concern, the tow truck was awaited. The yellow flags were waved on the closed racetrack and several vehicles passed the stranded 911.
But an Austin-Healey failed to make the hairpin bend at the end of a winding serpentine, the car drove into the side of the Porsche 911 due to a lack of braking and used it as a crumple zone, so to speak, as the wall came directly behind it, into which the closed sports car was now pushed.
Of course, nobody had expected such an unfortunate twist of fate and it ended with two badly damaged vehicles that had to be loaded up and transported away with a lot of effort. And, logically, it also spoiled the weekend for the two participants, as driving the bent sports cars is out of the question for the foreseeable future ...
We hope that the rest of the Arosa ClassicCar weekend will be accident-free and are glad that nothing more serious happened, as people could easily have been injured in this unfortunate accident. So it was a bit of luck and not just bad luck three times.
We will, of course, be publishing a detailed report on the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb ...
