Porsche, the Le Mans winners - 917, 936, 935, 956, 962, 911 GT1, 919 Hybrid
After several attempts, a Porsche won the overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time in 1970, the vehicle was a 917 K. 45 years later, Porsche won again with the 919 Hybrid.
In between, successes with the 936 ...
... with the 956 and 962, ...
... and the 911 GT1 ...
And then a 17-year break from winning.
So another Le Mans victory was added to Porsche's tally last weekend, the record of victories over the last 45 years is impressive, unbeaten. No other brand has won so often in the modern era.
It is also impressive that Porsche only needed two attempts to trim the 919 Hybrid into a vehicle capable of winning.
