Spare parts problems for classic cars only partially solved
Compared to the seventies or eighties (or even earlier), maintaining a classic car today is much easier, especially when it comes to sourcing spare parts. But is the situation today really always as rosy as the manufacturers and parts suppliers would sometimes have us believe?
We asked our readersand wanted to know whether supply and quality are really right.
Only 7% report that they are completely satisfied and that it is no longer a problem to keep a classic car running with original or genuine spare parts.
The majority, namely 69%, are largely satisfied with the range, but the quality is perceived as variable.
18% are not convinced by either the range or the quality, while 5% complain mainly about missing parts.
So there is still a lot to do when it comes to procuring spare parts, and both manufacturers and specialized suppliers need to step up their game.
