85 years young - Stirling Moss
09/19/2014
Stirling Moss turned 85 yesterday. He is still regarded as one of the fastest racing drivers of all time, although he was denied the trophy of Formula 1 World Champion. He was runner-up four times in the highest racing class and won 16 Grand Prix races. He was also successful in sports car races (including winning the Targa Florio and Mille Miglia). His career came to an abrupt end after an accident at Goodwood in 1962.
However, Sir Stirling Moss remained loyal to motor racing, working as a reporter, among other things, and later made repeated appearances at many historic racing events, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival, Silverstone Classic, Ennstal Classic, Mille Miglia and others. Much to the delight of the public and the fans he still has today.
We wish Stirling Moss a very happy birthday!
In his honor, we have created a picture magic series that shows some of the stages of his rich racing driver life and the time that followed.
