The Swiss Greens want to ban classic cars
11/10/2013
At their delegates' meeting in Zurich yesterday, Saturday, November 9, 2013, the Green Party of Switzerland voted in favour of a resolution that will only allow private transport in the future if it is based on 0 grams of CO2 emissions. Accordingly, the goal is also postulated that all combustion engines should disappear by 2050.
The sense and nonsense of electric cars and their energy production will not be discussed here. Irrespective of this, however, the green objective naturally makes classic car owners shudder.
2050 may seem a long way off, but today's classic cars, such as an Opel Kadett from 1973 or a Mercedes Benz 220 from the 1960s, will still function without any problems if they are allowed to. After all, you can still see cars from the early eras and from the pre-war period on our roads today, at least from time to time.
So if someone is absolutely committed to banning the combustion engine, then they also want to bury the automobile as a cultural asset (or scrap it, or at best put it in museums). It's best to give our answer at the ballot box, because the next elections (and votes) are sure to come.
