This is a Lycoming engine, the Lycoming concern being an associated company, together with Auburn and Duesenberg, as a matter of interest. A special frame con struction is utilised. This, in effect, is in two parts: the side members of the front portion, which receives the engine, transmission, and suspension and steering assem blies, are bolted to the main frame, which forms a practic ally flat foundation for the body. To this floor and seat platforms are welded, and also virtually the body itself, and the construction results in great strength and an all but smooth underside. Clutch, gear box and final drive are, of course, in front of the engine, the drive pass ing from the differential to the front wheels through universally jointed shafts. The suspension is a new one, the front wheels being car ried on swinging arms of box section connected by a steel Showing the seat positions and the location of the power unit rod at each side to a single transverse leaf spring, giving independent suspension. The rear suspension is normal by long halfelliptics, and the rear axle is really only a plain sleeve carrying the wheels and brake drums, having no other duties to perform. ...
