It has been over 60 years since the first car was fitted with a reversing camera. Actually, it was mainly a rear-view mirror replacement and whether it worked at all is more than questionable.
However, the concept car called the Buick Centurion looked breathtaking when it was presented at the 1956 Motorama.
The body was made of plastic, with less sensational technology hidden underneath.
However, the roof section, which was reminiscent of an airplane cockpit, was certainly interesting. Some styling details only found their way into the series decades later, but the rear view camera remained "science fiction" for the series until the new century.
