We know this system as the “suspension.” But while the technology behind suspensions, springs, and shock absorbers is presented to us in a fairly open and straightforward manner, tire manufacturers have always shared with us only what they needed to stand out in the sea of black, round tires from a marketing perspective. There have always been secrets involved in the manufacturing process—the rubber compound is just one part of it.
