06/18/2025
We are in Desenzano on Lake Garda. It will be another day before the 1000 Miglia passes by here. The pizzerias here in town are usually already full at this time of year, as Lake Garda is a popular tourist destination. If you want to get a seat, you have to hurry.
A day later, the spectators who want to follow the start of the Ferrari group in Desenzano at 13:15 will flock here. A little later, at around 14:10, the entourage of the "normal" 1000 Miglia will pass by. We are already looking forward to it!
The big day has arrived. Preparations for the 1000 Miglia in Desenzano del Garda have already begun at 05:30 with the erection of the barriers along the route.
Visitors relax in the cafés while the Ferraris are lined up in the best weather.
The Ferrari starting grid is slowly taking shape, the organization is qualified and deeply relaxed, even if spectators and cyclists keep trying to get onto the track.
It's not just the participating cars that are interesting, the visitors also arrive with interesting cars.
While the participating Ferraris are almost complete, attractive spectator seats are becoming rarer.
If you want to avoid the traffic jams and traffic, you can simply travel via Lake Garda.
The Carabinieri are omnipresent at the start, ...
... after all, over 100 Ferraris want to be guided.
Anticipation is the greatest joy, even or especially for the little ones. Afterwards it will get really loud.
The Ferrari squad starts on time, the youngtimers first, then it gets much louder with the modern models ...
Shortly after 14.00, the first regular Mille participants arrive; we have skillfully ignored the electric cars for this article. The pre-war cars thrill the spectators, even if hardly anyone has ever sat in one.
Who's in the way here again? The photographers and marshals, of course ...
The beautiful and attractive-sounding vehicles pass by, getting younger and younger. The sun is shining, it's 27 degrees Celsius, everything is still fine for the participants.
The numerous ambulances are not deployed, the participants are having fun and driving sensibly for the most part.
Organization is everything. In addition to the timekeeping, the individual vehicles are presented to the spectators on site in a qualified manner. That's how it should be!
The longer the event lasts, the more difficult it becomes to explain the closure of the public roads to non-motorsport fans ...
The starting numbers continue to rise, the ambulances slowly leave, and the first day is over for the spectators at around 17:00. Tomorrow the event will perhaps continue at a different location, after all, the 1000 Miglia 2025 will continue until Saturday, June 21, 2025.
