Perfect timing

Last Saturday evening, on March 11, 2023, the beautiful Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 TT12 from 1974/75 was pushed into the pits at Paul Ricard in Le Castellet for the Sunday track day in a kitschy sunset. The car bears the first names of Jacques (Laffite) and Arturo (Merzario), who drove this successful car together at the time.
On exactly the same day, just over 500 km away in Como, a little Italian cowboy named Arturo Merzario celebrated his 80th birthday. Tanti Aguri Arturo, we've already spoken on the phone.
Merzario won the 1000 km of Monza with this Alfa in 1974, then the manufacturers' world championship in 1975, with three victories together with his French team colleague Jacques Laffite. Arturo was also victorious together with Jochen Mass in Pergusa and also won the Targa Florio with local idol Nino Vaccarella.
The sensational red car is powered by a flat three-liter 12-cylinder engine with 48 valves and 500 hp at 11500 rpm. The car, which weighs just 670 kg, can reach speeds of around 330 km/h, and the unique sound it produces can certainly compete with the symphonies of the great masters ...
