It was just 44 years ago that this "sensation" was announced in the press: a 1-year warranty with no mileage limit!
Today, we can only smile about it, but 20 years ago, 3 or 6-month warranties were still the standard. And even in the seventies, some manufacturers did not dare to do without mileage limits. At that time, new car warranties were more reminiscent of the provisions of today's used car warranties, whereas today even seven-year full warranties are offered for new cars, 3 or 5 years are almost normal.
For the buyer, it is of course good to know that nothing will happen for several years. At the same time, however, it makes life more difficult for used cars as soon as the factory warranty has expired. There are two sides to most things in life ...
