BMW's farewell to Le Mans

It is the last official start of a BMW in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, at least for the time being. After just under two seasons, BMW is stopping the BMW M8 GTE because the investment is too high to justify it with visibility and increased sales.
BMW cars were frequently represented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1939, for example, the BMW 328 Touring took 5th place, with Max zu Schaumburg-Lippe and Fritz Hans Wenschler at the wheel.
There was great joy in 1999 when the BMW V12 LMR won with Joachim Winkelhock, Pierluigi Martini and Yannick Dalmas.
Now the M8 GTE will be able to show for the last time in the Sarthe whether it is a match for the competition. The race is still ongoing ...
