Volga 3105 remained a dream

It was presented at the Brussels Motor Show in 1992, the (Lada) Volga 3105 with an elegant body and all-wheel drive. When it was presented in Belgium, it was expected to go into series production soon.
At 5.05 m long, 1.98 m wide and 1.43 m high, the Volga 3105 had an imposing stature. The wheelbase was no less than 2.87 m. It weighed 1800 kg. At the front, a V8 engine with a displacement of 3.4 liters and electronic fuel injection provided 170 hp and 265 Nm. A top speed of 200 km/h and 11 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h should be possible.
At 13.7 liters per 100 km, thirst was kept within limits according to the factory specifications.
All wheels were individually suspended and the disc brakes benefited from ABS. Shifting was done with a five-speed gearbox.
The GAZ car plant had high hopes, but only a short time later, in AR 21/1993 , it was canceled:
"Unfortunately, it seems that the GAZ car plant's Volga 3105 prototype, presented at the Brussels Motor Show in early 1992, must finally be categorized as a concept car. With a wheelbase of 287 cm instead of 280 cm and an overall length of 505 cm, this perfectly shaped saloon, which caused envious admiration in many a Western design studio, was significantly larger than the Volga 2410. In addition, it was powered by a 3.4-liter V8 with a central camshaft and 170 hp, whereas the standard Volga had to make do with a 100 hp 2446 cc four-cylinder OHC engine."
The "normal" Volga looked much more conservative and was of course no substitute for the super saloon from the Brussels Motor Show. As many as 55 examples of the 3105 are said to have been built over the years and GAZ was even considering a successor at the time. But even that remained a dream.
