Technology made visible

In the past, it was common to produce "see-through drawings" to give the interested public an understanding of the technology.
These were often artistic and extremely elaborate drawings that showed the inner workings of automobiles and made technology applications and functions visible.
The reason why this "art form" has probably lost its importance lies in the increasing shift from mechanical functions to electronic or computer technology applications, where there is simply not much left to draw.
It's a shame, really, because we love the drawings from the past all the more!
You can find more see-through drawings in the Zwischengas archive.
