What sounds like an Aesop's fable is actually a snapshot showing a black and white striped Volkswagen Beetle with two zebras. It is not known whether the two animals were attracted by the painting of their peculiar conspecific.
However, the zebra motif is also repeatedly used in other interior designs and one vehicle even achieved the title of Golden Zebra (as a radiator grille), the Daimler DK 400 'Golden Zebra' Coupé (1953), which is on display in the Louwman Museum in The Hague.
We will be reporting more about this vehicle soon.
