What do hunters have to do with the Ford Capri?
When we found this advertising photo of the 1969 Ford Capri, we wondered what the Ford communication experts had in mind with this image.
Were they trying to illustrate the spaciousness of the trunk and thus the suitability for followers of space-intensive hobbies? If so, they would probably have been better off waiting until 1976, because then the Capri was available with a tailgate and folding individual seats, making it possible to stow longer shotguns in the trunk of the sports coupé.
Or did they want to draw attention to their bad luck with Erlkönig hunters , who had already given the Capri newspaper and magazine exposure months before the planned presentation in Brussels in 1969 and thus ran counter to the announcement strategies of the Ford makers?
Or was the presence of the two hunters simply a coincidence and the photographer spontaneously decided to integrate them?
We don't know, but perhaps one of our readers can make sense of this strange picture .....
