Unit numbers are important, but ... (Car connoisseur quiz)
05/04/2021
39 Ferrari 250 GTOs were built, so it's no wonder that one of them costs over 30 million. You might think. But only 10 Bugatti 39s were made and yet one car was auctioned off around a year ago for "only" EUR 870,000 or CHF 956,826. Of the 100 or so McLaren F1s built, however, almost every one is likely to cost over EUR 5 million. And the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was produced 1580 times and yet today around half a million is invested in it, more than 20 times the original price. Unit numbers are important, but not the decisive reason why a car is highly priced or cheap.
As exciting historical facts, production volumes are always good for interesting discussions. We have therefore turned the tables for once and asked our readers whether they have a good feel (or memory) for numbers.
We have selected twelve types of vehicle and the Zwischengas readers are now asked to find out how large the production volume was for each. The aim is to identify the correct answer from five. Do you want to give it a try? It's certainly not boring.
