Ligier JS2 - rare mid-engined sports car from France
Between 1970 and around 1977, Guy Ligier built a good 100 JS 2 road-going sports cars, the "JS" standing for Jo Schlesser, Ligier's late friend.
The Ligiers were particularly well known in Formula 1- just think of the JS 5, with its Gitanes livery and monstrously large air scoop.
The JS 2 road sports car was a conventional, but racing-oriented mid-engine design and carried the Maserati six-cylinder engine, which had also been used in the Citroën SM, with initially 170 and later 180 hp in front of the rear axle. In addition to the road vehicles, a whole series of racing versions based on the JS 2 were also built, which were used in the Tour de France and Le Mans, among other events.
Today, the JS 2s are extremely rare collector's vehicles.
