Car fans once dreamed of top-of-the-range or super sports cars. Since the turn of the millennium, however, hypercars have been regarded as the ultimate in automotive transportation. But whether they offer real driving pleasure is doubtful. To prove this thesis, this article takes you through the development of the sports car up to the present day and shows many of the cars mentioned in pictures.
At this year's Ennstal Classic, spectators will have the pleasure of observing two rare pre-war Alfa Romeos. Both embody state-of-the-art technology of the time and both reek of racing and success. Alfa Romeo built the 6C 1750 from 1929 to 1933. And the owner, who had seen it being driven as a schoolboy, does not want to put it in a museum, but wants to use it on the road. From 1938 to 1953, the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 was built in three wheelbases and fitted with elegant and unique bodies by the great coachbuilders of the time. The result was a car based on the motto "only the best is good enough" and to this day the cars have a reputation for being able to withstand even the toughest conditions.
