Summary
Alfa Romeo built the 6C 1750 from 1929 to 1933. The most powerful versions were called Super Sport and Gran Sport, drew 85 hp from the 1752 cm3 in-line six-cylinder engine with supercharger and ensured victories in almost all the important races of the early 1930s. Even today, the fast sports car still provides plenty of driving pleasure, as this extensively illustrated report shows.

What a stroke of genius! The Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport with Vittorio Jano's legendary in-line six-cylinder engine won the Mille Miglia in 1929 at the first attempt, and won again in the 1930 edition when Tazio Novolari defeated his opponent Achile Varzi. And many more victories followed, making the car the almost quintessential sports car of the time. In 1925, Alfa Romeo presented the successor to the Merosi RL and RM models. Vittorio Jano had developed a new in-line six-cylinder engine with 1487 cm3. However, the 6C 1500 was not built until 1927 and was followed in 1928 by a sports model with two overhead camshafts instead of one. Until 1929, the 6C 1500 was built in various versions with a power range from 44 to 84 hp; the most powerful models, called "Super Sport", had a supercharger.
